Garlic

Garlic is one of the easiest and most rewarding crops you can grow. Plant cloves in the fall, and they will overwinter in the ground, producing large, flavorful bulbs by early summer. Homegrown garlic is far more pungent and complex than store-bought.

Plant individual cloves in fall, 4–6 weeks before the ground freezes.

Well-drained, fertile loam. pH 6.0–7.0.

6 inches apart in rows 12 inches apart. Plant cloves 2 inches deep, pointy side up.

Watering

Moderate watering. Stop watering 2–3 weeks before harvest.
